When we look at other people rather than God to meet our needs, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. Why? Because people around us are not perfect. Nobody is. What we should do instead is to pour all our trust in the LORD, for He is the one who said, “Do not worry about anything, instead pray. Tell Him what you need and thank Him for what He has done.”
["The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me."- Psalm 28:7]
One of the greatest promises in the Bible is, “You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You.” Keeping our peace doesn’t exempt us from encountering difficult people in our lives. But God wants us to remain calm and still do what’s right whenever we are tempted by the enemy to lose our temper.
Remember that as God’s redeemed children, we are loved & protected by our Father in Heaven. There’s more blessing, extra reward and great favor when we choose to follow His will.
[ But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. - Luke 6:35 ]
Dealing With Those Who Hurt Us:
God sees us when we are in pain. He knows it when we cry for justice for the wrong things done to us. He wants to assure us today that He understands how we feel & will never allow evil to prosper because He is a just God. But as our Father, He also wants to teach us a different way of dealing with our bitterness. He wants us to learn and follow what Jesus did. Not giving in to anger and surrendering our battles to God gives us the assurance of favor from Him. By letting God avenge for us, we are setting ourselves up for victory over our enemies. So when the enemy is trying to tempt you to fight back, remember what Jesus did.
[ When He was reviled, He did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but continued entrusting Himself to Him who judges justly. -1 Peter 2:23 ]
[ For the LORD your God is he that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. - Deuteronomy 20:4]
This is something we should always remember: God allows trials in our lives to, first – test our faith, second-to show His faithfulness, and third-to increase our fruitfulness. In everything, God has a special purpose, and learning the lesson from painful experiences is the best way to move forward. Embrace the lessons because in the end, you will be surprised how it will make you a stronger & better person.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” -Romans 8:28
Importance of Prayer
As followers of Christ, God wants to take us to a higher level when it comes to our character. He wants us to live a life that is not only pleasing to Him but will also bring blessing to others. Jesus was a prayerful Teacher and He wants us to be the same. In this message, we will learn the value of humbling ourselves in prayer and receiving what we hope for through our faith in Jesus.
[ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. – Matthew 7:7]
When people hurt, reject or betray us, our natural reaction is to fight back. This negative emotion remain in our hearts, leaving us with more heaviness to endure. This is not the Lord’s will. Jesus gave us an example on how we can remain at peace and be victorious in all our battles. Remember that it’s not God’s will for us to be bitter, He wants us to be better!
“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the LORD.” -Romans 12:19
The Power of The Word Part 2 – Discipleship & Mentoring Series
The Bible declares that love never fails. If your life is consumed with failure after failure & you can’t seem to find the joy or fulfillment that you are longing for, start following Jesus and show love for others. Make an effort to be blessing to someone. Remember that the smallest good deed is worth more than the biggest intention. If you need help today, you can start by helping others.
[ "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."-Galatians 6:9 ]
You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. Everyday, you are given a chance to know God better and experience His promises. If you need assurance and direction today, come to Him and meditate on His Word. Nothing should be more important to you than learning to hear from God for yourself. What you will hear from Him will completely change your life.
[ You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:13 ]
All men experience failure. But those who put their trust in the Lord will receive renewed strength to get up and never give up. Change is essential for growth. God wants to remind us today that our lowest point could be our starting point if we allow Jesus to take over. You may be in a difficult situation right now but always remember that you have a God who can change your “tests” into “testimonies”.
[ "The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down." - Psalm 145:14 ]
It’s so hard to find someone you can trust nowadays. Disappointments can happen anytime. Sometimes, even the people closest to your heart fail at their promises. Sometimes unexpected things happen. Whenever you feel you have no one else to hold on to & no one else to trust, this is where God will show Himself faithful and true. Entrust everything to God, His Word will never fail you and His plan will always prevail.
[ "So is My Word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." - Isaiah 55:10 ]
