The Importance of a Mentor
God Sends Special People To Guide Us
A Mentor is a person who’s role in your life is to not only confirm what you are doing correctly. Their goal is to correct you and prevent you from making a mistake.
Your mentor foresees problems you cannot see coming.
Great people had great mentors in their life. Elisha sat at the feet of Elijah. Timothy sat at the feet of Paul. Joshua sat at the feet of Moses. Esther listened to Mordecai’s advice.
Esther’s Story
Esther was a simple girl who miraculously won the King’s heart. She became a Queen, lived in a palace and saved her people from danger. All throughout her journey, Mordecai was behind her, giving her advice in every decision she had to make. Esther’s story shows us the importance of being INFLUENCED by the RIGHT PEOPLE. Without Mordecai in her life, Esther might never understood her calling. And without his help, she might have never embraced it.
So who is your Mordecai? Who knows you well enough to help clarify your calling? Who loves you enough to challenge you when you get off track or strengthen you when you want to quit and turn back?
Not one of us is a composite of all life’s virtues; we all have blind spots and weaknesses. That’s why God sends people in our lives (Pastors, Spiritual Fathers, Mothers or Advisers) to guide us.
Mike Murdock gave an advice on how to treat God-given mentors in our life…
He said, “Do whatever is necessary to access their anointing, connect with their climate and attach yourself in their atmosphere. Whatever is growing in them will begin to grown in you. Applying a good advice is the key to extraordinary success”
