In business, we talk about the “take away” or “tubo”. It’s your net profit, your bottom line reward.
Here’s a truth we all need to know before our life ends here on earth:
When you live for yourself and fail to fulfill God’s purpose for your life, the “take away” is not worth the investment.
Solomon writes, “So i turned in despair from hard work. It was not the answer to my search for satisfaction in this life. For though I do my work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, I must leave everything i gain to people who haven’t worked to earn it. This is not only foolish but highly unfair” – Ecc. 2:18-21
or as John Capozzi puts it, “The executive who works from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday will be successful. He will also be fondly remembered by his wife’s next husband.”
The day is coming when all the stuff you’ve striven, strained and stressed out to acquire will make no difference. Your resume and job title will no longer impress anyone. No one will care what clothes you wore or what cars you drove, except your relatives who plan to wear them, drive or sell them.
If you’re wise, you’ll plan to exit this life with a “take away” that involves these 3 things:
1. Satisfaction, that comes from having fulfilled your God-given assignment here on earth.
2. Success, that’s measured in terms of eternal rewards, not temporal ones.
3. Security, that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
These are the only ” take away” worth living for.
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” -Mark 8:36
A Mentor is a person who’s role in your life is to not only confirm what you are doing correctly. Their goal is to correct you and prevent you from making a mistake.
Your mentor foresees problems you cannot see coming.
Great people had great mentors in their life. Elisha sat at the feet of Elijah. Timothy sat at the feet of Paul. Joshua sat at the feet of Moses. Esther listened to Mordecai’s advice.
Esther’s Story
Esther was a simple girl who miraculously won the King’s heart. She became a Queen, lived in a palace and saved her people from danger. All throughout her journey, Mordecai was behind her, giving her advice in every decision she had to make. Esther’s story shows us the importance of being INFLUENCED by the RIGHT PEOPLE. Without Mordecai in her life, Esther might never understood her calling. And without his help, she might have never embraced it.
So who is your Mordecai? Who knows you well enough to help clarify your calling? Who loves you enough to challenge you when you get off track or strengthen you when you want to quit and turn back?
Not one of us is a composite of all life’s virtues; we all have blind spots and weaknesses. That’s why God sends people in our lives (Pastors, Spiritual Fathers, Mothers or Advisers) to guide us.
Mike Murdock gave an advice on how to treat God-given mentors in our life…
He said, “Do whatever is necessary to access their anointing, connect with their climate and attach yourself in their atmosphere. Whatever is growing in them will begin to grown in you. Applying a good advice is the key to extraordinary success”
If you have been betrayed, you may feel that no one truly understands your pain.
BUT JESUS DOES.
He was betrayed by one of his closest friends. He was abandoned by the same people who said will never leave Him. (John 6:64-66)
Betrayal is painful, and your memory of it may always be with you. Although Jesus cannot change the past or wipe out your memory, He can take your pain, bring truth to the situation and provide healing to your heart.
Have you been betrayed? If so, you need to know that there is indeed someone who is faithful, someone you can always count on. Meet Jesus, who is also called “Faithful & True” (Rev 19:11)
An estimated 300 families are set to spend the night in an evacuation center, and some in the streets, after a fire razed their houses in Pasig City on Monday night (May 18, 2009).
As soon as the news reached us, the TROMS Team immediately sent help to our brothers and sisters who had lost their homes. We gave away clothes, words of encouragement & prayers that they need at this point in their life.
In behalf of Pastor Emerita and the whole staff of TROMS, we thank our Covenant Partners for helping us reach out to these people. Through your continued support and prayers, we were able to go there and offer a helping hand just in time for their need. God Bless all of you!
“He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward him for what he has done.” – Proverbs 19:17
