Since we are living in a fast-paced & busy culture, most of us tend to become lazy in cultivating a deep spiritual life. But God has called us to live in constant pursuit of a peaceful and godly lifestyle, because godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life & the life to come. This promise is made available for us, and as God’s chosen people, dearly loved by Him, He has given us the power to live a holy life & enjoy His presence. All we need to do is to humbly acknowledge Him in all our ways and live in obedience to His holy Word.

“I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands…” – Psalm 119:10

All of us wants to be loved & accepted for who we are. It is the same with God. He is constantly on the look out for people who will accept Him as a “holy God” and make an effort to pursue the things that gives Him pleasure & glory. He is looking for people who loves Him enough to not change who He is, who can say no to sin, and turn away from the things that grieves His heart & perfect holiness.

God has declared awesome promises of blessings & protection to those who love Him. Now it’s really up to us if we’ll choose to freely love Him back and live in complete trust in His faithfulness to His Word, or live our lives on our own, away from His perfect love & will.

The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name. When they call on me, I will answer…”
(Psalm 91:14-15)

True blessings can be experienced once we allow God to be God in our lives. This means we will allow His ways – not ours- to be our guide. We need to realize that our overall outlook in life is reflective on the level of respect we have for God & His holiness. If we choose to respect & obey Him continuously, peace & satisfaction is expected follow, for He Himself promised to reward those who diligently seek Him & give blessings to those who carefully follow His commands.

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God…”Deut. 28:1-2

Like a morning mist that soon vanishes, life is short and uncertain. God is reminding us today to never forget Him whenever we make plans, knowing full well that everything that we dream of or wish for is in His hands. We should never allow the distracting nature of our culture today make us neglect God & His ultimate purpose in our lives. His Word tells us that “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to that city, spend a year there, carry on business & make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”- James 4:13-15

We live in a world full of trials & uncertainties. Changes can happen in our lives in an instant; accidents happen, people change, businesses fail, sickness comes, loved ones leave. Reality is, there are some things in life we just can’t control. This is the reason why God is calling us to live lives that is fully dependent on Him; a life that is “consciously & constantly” surrendered to His will.

Our culture has influenced us to focus all our efforts in finding happiness & success for ourselves, but there’s a greater need for humility to which God is calling us today. The kind of humility that makes our hearts cry out & say, “I need more of You in my life, Lord, for I am nothing without You; my life in Your hands.”

“LORD, remind me how fleeting my life is. My entire lifetime is just a moment to You; at best, each of us is but a breath…. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only HOPE is in You.”-Psalm 39:4-5,7
